Breaker! Breaker! Education Discrimination?

Question to ponder this weekend.

Can a private vo-tech--conducting CDL training here in Florida--discriminate against acceptance of an ex-felon for training solely on the basis that the school cannot guarantee job placement upon course completion?

NO !! Because they canNOT guarantee employment for ANYONE.
No such thing. They are trying to privatize public education. You see this all through the community colleges and universities in florida and elsewhere. Oh, there'll be a problem with financial aid or yknow .. the class is full (it's not) what I realized is that parents who cannot AFFORD private school have thugged around especially under pam iorio and tricky ricky baker and attempted to make public institutions private. They canNOT do this. They can try to make you miserable enough to stop but you don't have to let them. These places DO NOT belong to them. This truck driving school might be private but I bet it accepts FAFSA. If so .. it better OPEN IT'S FREAKIN DOOR. Where in the paperwork does it cause someone to say they are a felon? or ex felon or antyhing else??

I'd sue them.

It's been relayed to me that such a school could consider a waiver, releasing the institution from the job placement criteria.

This particular school does not receive federal funding.

Driving-related felonies (DUI, drug convictions) appear to be the issue, as noted by fed/state guidelines--not every felony on the books--when attempting to earn a CDL.

That being said, apparently some of the major trucking companies will not consider the hire of anyone who has earned a CDL that has been convicted on any felony.

I would think a school would only consider a candidate convicted of a felony that really had something to offer in the way of background experience in order to work towards streamlining the job placement process towards companies that would consider such an applicant. I would think the school works as sort of a headhunter for the trucking company.

But it never hurts to ask the question of a waiver....

again one person anywhere with a dui with a cdl anywhere ..... i'd bet my last dollar there is one. yes seems more like the company policy than a school policy. look hard. there is hardly any school anywhere that does not accept ONE DIME in fed funds. Sounds more like the trucking co. set up a private school and makes people pay for the training that they could instead get OJT. all the bases covered.
BUT one dime of fed funds in any capacity .... there has to be some. if not then whoever is the donor or sponsor cause ain't NO WAY that bunches of people are getting private funding if they are there's a bigger scam afoot.
