Democratic AG Hopefuls Play the Julia Tuttle Fear Card
Over the weekend, Dem vs Dem squared off over issues facing Florida and when the focus turned to crime, I'm uncertain as to which Attorney General hopeful threw human rights under the bridge best...state Senator Dave Aronberg or state Senator Dan Gelber.

(...)Being Attorney General means being the state’s top law enforcement officer, which means these Democrats certainly want to prove their toughness. They did that when discussing child predators. Both referenced the situation that exists in Miami at the Julia Tuttle Causeway, which over the past two years has become a colony for homeless sexual predators.
Aronberg said he couldn’t imagine a “less safe situation than having an army of homeless, angry sex offenders roaming the streets. This is dangerous. This is putting everybody at risk,” he said.
Gelber was equally uncharitable, saying he recently checked out the camp, “because they all claim to be ‘Romeo-and- Juliet’ cases”(that is a teenager over 18 having sex with somebody under 18). “Almost every single one of them was a 40 or 50 year old guy who has done something absolutely unspeakable to a child under the age of 11. That’s who they are.”
Funny. That's not what Gelber said this past summer.

On second thought, I'd say Gelber did a better job dissing human rights. My guess is neighbor Ron Book keeps him fairly well-versed on Bookville, the unofficial name of the colony which bears the lobbyist's name.
FYI, Senator Gelber. Not everyone under the JT is designated a "predator" by the state of Florida. Next debate, try fact-checking the state registry.

Believe it or not, I feel like I am running out of words. It seems like I have been saying the same thing over and over for so long. I know it is doing well. I know things are changing. I see it in the court cases and the States that are being forced to give up residency restrictions. How long can it take supposedly intelligent people to stop this bull crap? My guess is that residency restrictions would have stopped a couple of years ago if there was not so much money and power attached to it. The "staunch" supporters of RR pack a lot of political money and influence and don't take kindly to anyone to oppose what they want no matter how outrageous it is.
All of this glory hallelujah over Ron Books seeing the light about maybe having made a mistake about RR is just a bunch of hooey because the State RR they are going for will cause incredible problems, not just on the East Coast of Fl. but potentially all over the State. Then there is the damage they can do with their proposed "safety zones". You politicians need to wake up and smell the coffee... the people of Florida are learning the truth. They are being educated. When they all find out how much you have been lying to them about the safety of their children, you may be lucky to get a State job picking up garbage!
I know how you feel, Magister and I think you are correct regarding the amount of money and influence attached to residency restrictions...it's hard enough to admit one has been wrong all along (Ron Book), but then to have the someone who he would certainly have ear rights (Gelber)bunny hop back and forth on the issue of residency restrictions, smacks of same old Florida politics as usual.
It's infuriating.
I'm praying the alternative FL press is watching these two.

Gelber and the other one need to realize THAT'S SO BUSH. It's over. We so want to move the world forward. What they attempt to keep breathing life into is a huge lack of civility and culture. Men and women have been diddling little children since time began. There is nothing that will stop them. Unless they want to stop. Any person with half a brain knows this.
The laws are just to trip people up as more and more money flows to the corrections coffers and more and more homeless are created.

I will NEVER give up. The stakes are too high. At this point there are over one and a half million people in the US (that is a very conservative estimate) whose lives are being destroyed and for no reason except for political and financial gain (politics and media).
